What is a gremlin bell?
A gremlin bell is a small metal bell that you attach to the lowest point of your motorcycle. It is a small sentimental gesture that says ‘please come home safe’.
As a biker, you know better than anyone how vulnerable you are in traffic. This gremlin bell, also known as a motorbike bell or angel bell, is a very well known and much appreciated gift among motorcyclists and bikers of all kinds. No matter what kind of motorcycle you ride, this gift will always be appreciated.
Should you give a gremlin bell as a gift?
Do you really have to give a gremlin bell or angel bell as a gift? Or can you also buy these for yourself? Most people will tell you that you have to get these, otherwise they will lose their ‘good mojo’. While there is a grain of truth in this, it is not entirely true. You may indeed buy a gremlin bell for yourself. After all, the pilots who made this tradition had not received theirs as a gift either.
But it is said that a motorbike bell brings more good luck when you got it from a friend, boyfriend, girlfriend or loved one. As when you buy one for yourself. After all, you drive just that little bit more carefully when you know there are people staying at home who really want to see you get home in one piece. Double the luck and give a gremlin bell to your rider friends.
The best gift for a biker!
Whether for a friend, girlfriend, brother, sister, father or mother, this is the best and most thoughtful gift for every biker and rider! Great to give to your loved ones who ride a motorcycle for a special occasion like mothers day, fathers day, a birthday or Christmas! Or just because you can. After all, you never need an excuse to make a biker happy with this cute and sweet little gift.
The legend of the gremlin bell
There are several legends surrounding the origins of this lucky bell for motorcycles. The most famous is the story of the British & US Air Force. Pilots would witness so much horror during World War II that they suffered from extreme sleep deprivation en masse. As a result, they sit in their cockpit suffering the symptoms of extreme sleep deprivation and overexhaustion. Causing hallucinations on a regular basis like shadows from the corner of their eyes that they referred to as ‘gremlins’ (evil spirits).
To keep these gremlins at bay, they hung a bell in their cockpit. The constant ringing of the bell kept them alert and ensured the shadows stayed at bay.
Pilots returning home after the war sought the excitement and freedom of riding. The gremlin bell from their cockpit had kept them safe for countless miles in the air and they continued that on the roads.
Ride Safe!
The symbols on this Gremlin Bell Angel Wings Silver
The Gremlin Bell Angel Wings is actually more of an Angel Bell where the story goes back one step further. Saint Michael is the patron saint of sick and suffering people and those working in dangerous conditions, like the pilots mentioned in the description. Saint Michael knows what it means to live in fear and threat and protects against evil influences and demons who want to take advantage of suffering and dangerous conditions.
